Million Green Fiji, an agribusiness based in Suva and Nadi promotes a greener, healthier Fiji by supporting sustainable farming and raising health awareness across communities.
Founded by a passionate team, Million Green Fiji works to create economic impact and promote greenery, addressing challenges like poor soil, health crises, and food security in the Pacific.

This agribusiness initiative emphasises on agroforestry, organic farming, and the cultivation of nutrient-rich produce.
Co-founder Shayal Singh explained that their business name, Million Green Fiji, reflects their two main goals: making a strong economic impact and building a greener, healthier society.

“Right now, we see a lot of brown, but we envision a vibrant, green Fiji, and we’re working to make that happen through agroforestry and other sustainable practices,” she said.

Beyond greenery, the team has its sights set on improving Fijians health by promoting chemical-free and local produce.

“People often go for canned foods and easy options that harm health in the long run. We’re advocating for a return to fresh and natural produce.”

“If people can switch to chemical-free options, we can help reduce many health issues we see today,” Shayal said.

A major challenge for the team has been poor soil quality, which has hindered crop growth. Instead of giving up, Shayal and her team are tackling this issue with long-term solutions.

“Poor soil pH is a major barrier. We need to fix this now to ensure food security for future generations. Our team is working on sustainable solutions to restore soil health, so we can support reliable, long-term crop growth and build a stronger food system for Fiji,” said Shayal.

The team is expanding its reach by creating partnerships with institutions and investors, aiming for larger projects, such as acquiring land for dedicated fruit and herb farms. They believe this will not only increase access to fresh food but also help set an example of sustainable farming practices across the Pacific.

Shayal was one of three winners of the Pacific Agri-Innovate Competition 2024 – Fiji.

“It’s a great honour to be one of the winners of the Pacific Agri-Innovate Competition 2024 and it’s helping us reach more people who can join us in this mission.

“We want to build trust with our investors because certain projects need significant capital, and the support we gain now is essential,” she said.

Shayal thanked the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), European Union and Business Assistance Fiji (BAF) for organising this competition.

“This is just the beginning for us. In the next few years, we aim to see our trees flourishing across the islands and ensure that the fresh, sustainable produce is accessible to all,” Shayal said.
Shayal will participate in the 2024 Pacific Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Solutions Forum next month where, she will have the opportunity to present his businesses and showcase their products. She will also receive their prize money of $1,000 USD at the forum.
